Specialist Tutor | London

A family are looking for full-time support to help their 15-year-old son. 

A 15-year-old boy who, for the last ten years has undergone a very intensive program run by two teachers working 12 hours a day, five days a week from a school in Boston USA is looking for an experienced teacher to help him through the next stage of his development. 


They are looking for one teacher to start in Febuary, and will be looking for a 2nd teacher to start in the summer. This program will be overseen by a very experienced supervisor who the Tutor can get advice, and direction from constantly. The family would like to organising a similar structure but run it themselves.

The family have a professional ACC therapist who works from Boston and will be coming over four times a year to do intensive training and updating their sons device, again full contact with this person is in place. 

Up until July, their Son will still attend a specilaist school but will slowly have more outside events to create an outside independence and get him used to the idea of life without a school routine.

The team leader will work very closely with the Tutor to ensure a smooth transition for both their son and Tutor. 

The job with be on a rota either starting at 7.30am and finishing at 3.30pm or starting at 11.30am and finishing at 7.30pm which is an eight hour day.

The family have a specific room in their house which will be dedicated to teaching, with a white board and materials to facilitate his education.

They have a pool for improving gross motor skills, which they would want at least one session a week if not two. Alongside physio/oral/OT and be comfortable to consult with specialist.

The family are looking for someone who has good organisational skills, a team mentality to collaborate with the whole team, comfortable to work in a home environment and to have advocacy skills for the child and parents; promoting independence in self help skills and routines.

The Tutor must be able to plan lessons and have self determination.

Education is a way to transcend boundaries for all involved. It is a continuous learning process for both students and teachers. Pay - based on expeience but will include a seven week holiday to be taken during school holidays when not travelling with the family. When travelling, the Tutor will recieve a bonus for the extra hours they cover.
